About Our Volunteer Organization

Our Mission

Our mission is providing quality training and resources to support our search and rescue volunteers who search, rescue and/or recover persons who have become lost or incapacitated in Clallam County.

Our Purpose and Commitment

Clallam Search and Rescue is a 501(c)3 charitable and educational organization which supports, coordinates, develops, and promotes search and rescue resources with the underlying principles of saving lives and preserving property through its support to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue program.
Our volunteers are trained for certification in search and rescue operations. They work in all kinds of terrain from Wilderness to 133 Miles of coastline of deteriorating cliffs and beaches. Our weather changes by the mile from 18” to 144” inches in the Olympic Rain Forest. Our elevation ranges from sea Level to 6000 Feet. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. CSAR also provides mutual aid to neighboring counties and to Washington Emergency Services.

Leadership

CSAR is comprised of a Board of Directors, and supported by Search and Rescue Volunteers.

CSAR is managed by a Board of Volunteers. The board consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and up to three general Board Members, and is governed by Bylaws and a Memorandum of Understanding with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Elections are held annually to staff the Volunteer Board, and members can be from the community with a SAR interest and experience or from within the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Volunteers. For more information, please email info@clallamsar.org.
